Since you're wrong 100% of the time I'll be expecting the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup within the next 2-3 years.

Tanner, you could start by spelling some names correctly. People might take you more seriously. While you like to run around criticizing Holland and Lou, take a closer look at what Chayka has done. Despite his youth and innovative ideas...he turned Domi and Strome into Galchenyuk and Schmaltz. He's the joke. Well, and you.

This article got me thinking: I don’t think there has been a worse Stanley Cup Final in the post-67 era than the two snoozers that Tippet’s Dallas Stars played in ‘99 and ‘00. Anyone disagree?

Wow What a post. After reading this I think this Tanner guy should change his name to assner...it doesn't matter who comes in to coach the team given the players on the roster. The Oilers should have fired PC and DS a long time ago. It was their inability to put roster together for any coach to do anything with. Your going to tell me that Tippet can't coach???? Sure let's have a look at his win loss record and we'll go from there.

There's no proof that either of those were bad trades yet. Plus Chayka has to run the leagues cheapest team, I don't think you should use him as a reason why teams should continue to recycle losers.

By the way, I went back through it and besides mispelling Draisaitl (a name no one is allowed to complain about spelling wrong, I didn't see a single mispelled name).

Feel free to let me know if I missed one.

You can't find the other spelling mistakes? Are you serious? What's it like when most of your readers are more informed than you?

I dont understand all the hate for holland. In just two weeks hes already got rid of mac t and sutter and signed a low risk high reward player. Still a whole summer left and the draft to see what he can do. This is not a team that a rookie gm should be coming in to try to fix things. Holland is a veteran gm that put together alot of good detroit teams for years, he was forced to try to push for the playoffs every season so eventually it was going to catch up with them and force a rebuild. Tipett took a arizona team that was not very skilled to the conference finals and from everything i read about him is players loved to play for him. Hitchkock is the exact opposite of that. A season with a coach the team will actually want to play for and also having some elite players that he never had in his years in arizona. I am happy with the moves made so far and i will wait at least a season before critisizing these guys.

I agree with the lazy and safe part but those guys didn’t come cheap. I thought the Oilers should have gone with new blood as well.
I have a feeling the fans will despise Holland as much as they do Chiarelli

I dont think it is possible for anyone to be as bad a gm as chiarelli was. The moment he made the trade to get griffen rienhart for the 16th and 32nd picks i knew we were in trouble. Things only got worse from there. I would be shocked if that guy ever gets another job in the league

The problem isn't specifically with who they chose, it's that they have failed by constantly turning to recycled failures, and they did it again.

Like, if you think about it, does it make any sense to limit your search to only people who have previously failed in their roles in the NHL?

20 years ago, someone had to give both Holland and Tippett a chance to be rookies in the NHL. The game has changed and is changing - doesn't it make sense to look beyond people who had good ideas 20 years ago?

I just think there are 100s of candidates the Oilers didn't even consider, and they went the safe and easy route, because 99% of fans are just casual fans who will easily buy into the name brand choices.

Since your odds of failing are high to begin with, it just seems to me to be a far more intelligent move to look at people who might change how the game is played with their ideas rather than guys who are stuck in the past.

Tippett is an egregiously stupid hire because he is the typical dump and chase defense first 90s coach that will get killed in today's NHL.

Cheap as in shiny and nice and poorly made. Cheap as in they went with the name brands and surface level analysis and didn't dig deeper to find substance.

But yeah, probably not the best word choice on my part.

well said oil_country1404....I can't believe James Assner is still trying to defend his post...he sounds more like a guy who was let go by DT back in the day.
